On Friday, Novemeber 14th F.G.I. Dallas hosted their annual Night Of Stars Gala at the iconic Fashion Industry Gallery in downtown Dallas. Honeeres for the event included Linda Gray, Lisa Dawson, Todd Fiscus, Nancy C. Rogers and Zac Posen. Through the two short years I have been blogging the Night Of Stars Gala has always been one of those events I looked forward to reading recaps on, so for this year to be attending was a huge honor. If you remember two weeks ago I interviewed Zac Posen and he had a lot to say about his love for Dallas and the stylish women that fill the city. I was beyond excited to get to meet with Zac, this time in person. He was so kind and gave me an amazing compliment, Zac has this postive energry that just lights up a room and makes anyone in his presence feel love. Besides being completely kind and generous, I appreciate that Zac sets a positive example in the gay community, Zac Posen makes me proud to be Gay and he makes me proud to want to be myself and follow my dreams.
As guests arrived Zac and Linday Gray made time to take pictures, answer questions and cheers to a great event. The night began with cocktails, wine and a whole lot of amazing fashions. As we took our seats we enjoyed a 3 course meal and an amazing runway show from Zac Posen. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be sitting at this table at the age of 21 watching a couture Zac Posen Show. This was one of the most gratifying and humbling moments of my life. The electricity in the room was contagious as the lights went down for the Zac Posen runway skeptical. Zac showed his Spring 2015 collection that was featured just this last September at New York Fashion Week which boasts a clean red and white color pallet. Strong structured architecture that features the woman’s sillouhette were consistent, It’s a style Zac can clearly claim as his own. After the dinner and the runway show it came time for the award ceremony hosted by actress Emma Bell of Dallas and The Walking Dead fame. A brief video played before each recipient explaining why it is they are a true star. Zac posen’s award acceptance was the first of the evening, he twirled the runway as he was greeted by long time friend and Neiman Marcus fashion director Ken Downing. Zac gave a heartfelt, moving speech. “To any aspiring young fashion patrons out there just remember, if you are persistent and have the passion to follow your dream you will be successful.” a short and very powerful statement Zac made as he closed his speech. Award recipients Lisa Dawson, Todd Fiscus and Nancy C. Rogers followed and truly embodied what F.G.I. Dallas is all about, passion, warmth and humility. Finally closing out the award ceremony was the iconic Linda Gray, When I tell you this woman is flawless….I mean it….this woman is flawless. Linda graced the stage in a sequin gown from Escada and the audible gasp was infectious. Linda kept her speech for her lifetime of achievment award short and sweet and expressed how Dallas has changed her during the last three decades of her career, a career that will go down in american history. I had the chance to interview Linda a few hours before her big acceptance speech and was honored to get to spend some time with her and even snapped a few pics of her for her twitter account! Look for that interview very soon! This was the first of many events that will be overseen by F.G.I new regional director Chuck Steelman. F.G.I. Night Of Stars is an event that will continue to be coveted for years to come. I look forward to continue to work with F.G.I in the new year and can’t wait to see what they will do next. Congrats to a great event! Proceeds from the event funded FGI of Dallas’ foundation scholarships.
